Rosie Perez

 Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964) is an American choreographer, actress dancer, activist, and choreographer. Her first big break came from her portrayal of Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), which was followed by White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance as Tina , in Fearless (1993) was rewarded with her nomination for the Academy Award, Best Supporting Actress and other honors. It Could Happen to You (1994) as well as The Road to El Dorado(2000) and Pineapple Express(8) and Birds of Prey(2020) are some of her most prominent film roles.





 Perez has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations in In Living Color (1990-1994) as well as an additional Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her character in the role of The Flight Attendant. She has appeared in stage productions on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. During the 18th season, she was also co-hosting ABC's talkshow The View.





 Childhood and early life



 Perez was born on the 6th of September, 1964, in Brooklyn to Lydia Perez (a merchant mariner seaman) and Ismael Serano (a Bushwick neighborhood resident).  Her mother Lydia (nee Fontanez y Reyes) was born on the 13th of October, 1939, in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her father was born in Aguadilla in Puerto Rico. Arturo Perez was her mother's 20-year-old husband. After an affair with Serrano her mother was already five children. Perez was born in the now closed Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.





 Perez is one tenth of her 10 children. Rosie as well as her siblings grew up in Bushwick during the time their mother was imprisoned. The mother of her child was born to her second child while she was in jail. After being taken care of by her aunt, she ended up in foster care and group homes. She was often kept apart from her brothers. She was put in a foster home for children and she lived in foster care New York until she reached age eight. After the age of twelve the girl was considered legal a ward in New York. Her mother and aunt frequently visited her, and her father unsuccessfully made a custody bid at one point.RosieRosie
